On the other hand, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s House said that no such tape exists as per Mushahidullah’s claim. “When Zahirul Islam confirmed it, he was asked to leave”, said Senator Mushahidullah Khan.

The controversy emerged when and Mushahidullah’s interview was published and broadcast on BBC in which he had accused former DG ISI General Zahir ul Islam for conspiring against PML-N government.

The PML-N stalwart claimed that the conspiracy was aimed at toppling not only the civilian government but also the military leadership.

Mushahidullah claimed that the government was later informed that the weapon-laden vehicles cars captured by a Pakistan Army officer near the PM House.

On a question about the probability of inquiry against Zahiurl Islam for his alleged involvement in sit-ins, the minister said at the moment, the democracy in Pakistan is not such strong to take such action. Nawaz has sought explanation from the minister over his statements.

The Senator also claimed that the incumbent government had an audio tape obtained by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in which the former ISI Chief could be heard giving orders to spread chaos with an ultimate objective to overthrow the Nawaz Sharif’s government.
