PM Tsipras and Austrian Chancellor Faymann visit Lesvos

Numerous nearly 400,000 migrants who have arrived in Greece this year have later passed through Austria on their way to Germany.

The “Draft Action Plan” was presented to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his two-day visit to Belgium and the European Union, but has yet to be officially accepted by Turkey.

“I know that this is a very dramatic dilemma”, he said.

Zsolt Nemeth, head of the Hungarian parliament’s foreign relations committee, said his country is working jointly with the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia to help protect Hungary’s border with Croatia, which is also an external border for the EU’s passport-free Schengen travel zone.

“We have to respect commonly agreed rules”, he said, adding that when countries say they intend to flout the laws “they undermine the essence of solidarity and our community”.

Athens:Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann reiterated their countries’ determination to address the ongoing refugee crisis within the European framework.

“Significantly more must happen than is now being prepared to achieve border security with the possibility of guaranteeing the right to asylum through a door called “distribution center”, Faymann said.
