Pochettino enthuses over ‘almost perfect’ Tottenham

Tottenham repeated their April annihilation of Stoke with another 4-0 win at the bet365 Stadium which maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

Hughes was sent to the stands in the first half after leaving the technical area as Stoke, who have one point from their opening four league games, remain rooted to the bottom of the standings.

Mauricio Pochettino has no other injury worries to contend with but Moussa Dembele remains suspended as he serves the final of his six-match suspension.

“It is good that he has started to score too because he is our main striker and an important player for us, and I think we are very happy and he is very happy”, the manager said.

The Argentine believes it is only a matter of time – perhaps starting with the tricky away trip to Stoke tomorrow – that Kane, who scored 32 goals in all competitions last season, will get off the mark.

Walker featured in 33 Premier League games last season, which in turn helped him secure his place in Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016.

Walker arrived at White Hart Lane in 2009 and has established himself as the first-choice right-back for both his club and country, as Sam Allardyce started him in England’s 1-0 World Cup qualifier win over Slovakia last week.

“Another day, another time, you can’t improve”, added Pochettino, “but in this game it was ideal and I think we fully deserved the result”.

“I think Mark Hughes is a manager who changed a lot, the culture and philosophy that Stoke played before”, the Spurs boss said.

“We’re very disappointed that (Rose) got injured in the national team”.

“Starting Saturday we have seven games in 20 days and a insane schedule until Christmas. The first season is hard for every player, but today he had an opportunity to show his quality, which is important for us and important for him”.

“Always in our minds we are winners, but then you have to deliver and maybe we didn’t compete in the way that we need to compete to win the league”.
