Monaco scored twice in the first half hour to beat Tottenham 2-1 at Wembley in their Champions League Group E opener. “There is nothing to prove”.

But while the fans have had more chance to buy tickets, Wembley’s pitch is significantly bigger than Tottenham’s usual home turf, a potential problem as Mauricio Pochettino’s players try to stick to their usual high pressing game.

Their defense that nobody in the Premier League was better than a year ago. “Out of the teams we could have drawn we have to be pleased”, Davies said at a UEFA Champions League gala dinner to launch the “Road to Cardiff”. We’ve got the new stadium on its way, the fantastic facilities at the training ground, and a fantastic manager who’s great for all us young players.
