Pochettino indicates Arsenal were lucky to get better of Tottenham

Two goals from veteran midfielder, Mathieu Flamini, have given Arsenal a 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup on Wednesday.

Flamini’s second goal at the White Hart Lane is a pure act of talent and technique that has probably never been seen during his stay at Arsenal.

Nacer Chadli of Spurs shoots and gets a deflection off Calum Chambers, unseen, for an own goal equaliser on Wednesday night during their League Cup match at White Hart Lane. He was certainly frustrated for a long time and he went for it and scored two good goals – especially the second one.

“He had worked very [hard] recently”. But I’m working hard. He is a fighter and a victor as well. Wenger said: “I said to you after the game that he should not have responded at all and I maintain that and I told him that”.

Tottenham gave absolutely everything but on 70 minutes we could take advantage as they dropped a little bit in their intensity”.

Kane’s bicycle kick forced Kieran Gibbs to head off the line as Tottenham’s bombardment continued, but Arsenal’s introduction of Alexis Sanchez would help stem the tide. You want to win more. From there, they faced tougher opponents but looked great as they thrashed Premier League rivals Newcastle United 4-0 to reach the semis.

What a game for the veteran Frenchman who was on the verge of leaving the club some time ago.

“I have heard many things in the press, many people have been talking about me but I have proved everyone wrong”.

Arsenal defender Gabriel had his red card rescinded from the defeat to Chelsea at the weekend, but he is unlikely to feature as manager Arsene Wenger rotates his squad.

“We missed the opportunity to win”.

Mesut Ozil gave the Gunners the lead but Harry Kane came up big to score a brace in the second half to hand Tottenham the victory.

As we saw in the post-match interview, Mathieu Flamini felt pretty good about his performance in the North London Derby. This is football.

“We go game-by-game, so I will make changes, for sure”. There’s always some madness or a moment of brilliance waiting to happen in these games.
