Pochettino singles out key reason for Eriksen’s poor form
Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino says that his side’s performance was “almost perfect” following their 4-0 away victory over Stoke City in the Premier League.

“We are up for the challenge, we are always optimistic and believe in our players, so why not go better than last season?”
“It was the ideal result for us”.
Over the last three seasons Eriksen has certainly made an impact for his club – he has made 101 Premier League appearances, contributed a goal in on average almost one in two as well as providing 46 combined goals and assists.
Eriksen had been in negotiations with Tottenham since early last season and those talks have finally yielded an extended deal worth a reported £75,000 per week ($100,000, 90,000 euros).
Pochettino added: “We’re very disappointed that he got injury in the national team”.
“We are really pleased for him, really happy”, he said.
Tottenham will open their Champions League campaign this Wednesday when they host Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco at Wembley Stadium, which they have sold out for the game.
He is the fourth Tottenham player to reach the milestone after Sheringham, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe.
It was a miserable afternoon for the home side, who also had boss Mark Hughes sent to the stands in the first half.
“I came out of my technical area, I was upset and felt the assistant referee hadn’t flagged for a clear foul and the referee then thought it was the right decision to book Marko when he was just trying to take evasive action”. The Potters had started the game in good form with Glenn Whelan’s deflected volley whistling off target after a quarter of an hour.
Pochetinno was similarly delighted to have persuaded Eriksen that his future lies with the Lilywhites, saying: “It was important for him and important for the club”.
“When you play a lot of games, you need to keep your level”.

Stoke are rock bottom of the Premier League after taking just one point from their four matches and Hughes accepted his team are struggling defensively, having conceded 10 goals.
