Pochettino: today is my favorite memory of White Hart Lane
The first half saw Tottenham boss the game and took the 1-0 lead early in the 6th minute from a Victor Wanyama header.

Just four minutes into the second half, Christian Eriksen sent a flawless cross that found Harry Kan, who fired it into the roof of the net to double Tottenham’s tally.
“Obviously a lot of top teams, the top six as we look at now, are all going to be fighting for that title again and it’s been quite an achievement this year to finish second, but we’ve got to go one better next year”.
Mauricio Pochettino claims there was no better way to farewell White Hart Lane than Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday night.
The vast majority of it has centred around the fact that it is Spurs’ last match at historic White Hart Lane.
Tottenham are building a new stadium, which is set to be ready to be opened for the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign, adjacent to their current home ground.
“I said to myself this would be the hardest one, given the quality of the teams we had to play on the run-in”, Allardyce said. “It’s special to go a whole season unbeaten at home”.
The north London club were a win away from securing the second place and they achieved the feat by defeating Jose Mourinho’s side.
Many gaps were visible in the rows stands after supporters ripped out the chairs to take home as souvenirs whilst thousands more could be seen strewn on the outskirts of the pitch after being removed by workers.
The farewell ceremony began with a history of White Hart Lane narrated by Tottenham fan Sir Kenneth Branagh and finished with Pochettino and his players performing a lap of honour. We have to hold on to that and use it as motivation, hopefully, to lift the title next year.
Chelsea were crowned champions after their win at West Bromwich Albion on Friday, but Tottenham had the ideal occasion to forget that frustration as they prepare to temporarily play at Wembley while the Lane is demolished to make way for a new arena.

Four points off the top four, Mourinho has abandoned hope of qualifying for the Champions League via the league and is likely to rest players after Thursday’s Europa League semi-final success against Celta Vigo. I have been coming to the Lane for over 50 years and many of you for much longer.
