Podcast Episode 52: Spoiler-Free Review Of ‘The Force Awakens’

Directed by J.J. Abrams (“Star Trek”) with a savvy blend of warm nostalgia, effects-driven spectacle and shrewd commercialism, “The Force Awakens” does a fine job of bringing a cherished old series into a new, Marvel-dominated age. It’s this, more than anything, that makes The Force Awakens feel like a direct sequel to the original trilogy.

The new Star Wars Force Awakens movie is set to hit major theaters on December 18, which means that you have exactly 48 hours to wade through the internet without seeing a spoiler.

The only question was whether he could stay on target.

But other than that, with a worldwide embargo on all reviews of the movie until 8am today, fans have had to satisfy their curiosity with 140 character reviews on Twitter – all overwhelmingly positive.

There is a powerful story at the heart of The Force Awakens which has enough twists and turns to keep it interesting.

He has retained those special moments between Han Solo (Ford) and Chewbacca, and great one-liners delivered by Ford do not go amiss.

Archie, 8, said he likes Star Wars because “it has a lot of fantasy, it’s an action movie and it’s really cool”.

Abrams and Lupita Nyong’o, who plays Maz Kanata, pulled their biggest smiles as they posed for a selfie on the gangway, while Fisher posed alongside her dog, Gary.
