Pogba is not worth world record fee, Scholes says
According to latest reports, Manchester United is on the verge of completing the record breaking transfer of French midfield dynamo Paul Pogba in the coming days for a fee rumoured to be around the £86 million mark.

The Red Devils are thought to have submitted an offer in the region of £100m for the 23-year-old France worldwide as Jose Mourinho looks to complete his fourth signing of the summer transfer window. But we know first of all that the player belongs to another club, which is not a small club.
Speaking to Sport Witness, Scholes said that for that much money you would be looking to secure the services of a player scoring upward of 45 goals per season.
Pogba will earn a basic salary of about £11m a year plus incentives at Old Trafford, and retain sponsorship and image rights.
“I think Gundogan is a really impressive player”, Scholes said.
Scholes played with Pogba during the early stages of the France midfielder’s career at Old Trafford before he joined Juventus in an £800,000 deal after struggling to secure regular first-team football in Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
John Aldridge picks his Liverpool dream team for the new season and suggests boss Jurgen Klopp does not need to spend too much more in the transfer market, while John Brennan asks whether Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will finally make the signings he needs to turn his Gunners into champions.
Scholes, who played 718 times for the club and scored 155 goals, has seen an improvement in the player from when they were teammates in 2012, which would have happened naturally of course with the Frenchman maturing and gaining valuable first team experience at Juventus.
Scholes, who departed United in 2013, saw Pogba’s potential as a teenager at the club but believes the 23-year-old is not worth a world-record fee. He added, “I just don’t think he is worth £86m.” .
