Pogba to Man U for transfer record $116M

Pogba’s return eclipsed the previous largest transfer on record – Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2013 for almost £84.7 million.

Stormzy may have inadvertently leaked Paul Pogba’s world record £89m football transfer to Manchester United.

Pogba moved to Italy when United let him go for a nominal fee after his contract expired in 2012.

While United supporters are in dreamland at the news, other football supporters had differing opinions on the matter.

The fee for Pogba dwarfs the British record £59.7m United paid Real Madrid for Angel Di Maria in 2014 and Pogba has become the third club record buy in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

“This is the right club for me to achieve everything I hope to in the game”, said Pogba. The wait was as annoying to me as it was to you.

“That will come with time hopefully, but first the Premier League – I’ve never done it”. “I spoke with (Alvaro) Morata, (Raphael) Varane – and they all told me that he is a coach for me, he will make me improve a lot, because he makes you work harder”. More than the manager, I think he has possibly got the biggest part to play this year.

United still had a core of experienced stars at the club when Pogba opted to swap Manchester for Turin four years ago, including the likes of Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Michael Owen, Dimitar Berbatov, Giggs, Nemanja Vidic, Park Ji-Sung and Paul Scholes, who came out of retirement that season. I feel this. I spoke with him a few times and he gave me energy and positivity. It was a bad thing for a good thing so I’m happy now.

The 23-year-old, who subsequently won four Serie A title with Juventus, has now clarified his reasoning for returning to Manchester. He then added: “Given the wealth of the @premierleague more of the greats will come here and not just to Barca and Real Madrid. I didn’t finish what I started here so I think I came here to finish it”.

Pogba said his mum told him he would return to Old Trafford and that it was his “destiny”.
