Pokémon Go Servers Crash Amid Claims of DDOS Attack

Pokémon Go is now available in 26 new countries, which gives the wildly popular mobile game the ability to disappoint more people than ever with the multi-hour server outage we’ve been experiencing this morning. Since the release, the developer Niantic has been facing server issues due to the massive traffic overload as fans all over the world want to play the game. Dedicate yourself to becoming a Pokemon Master in Pokemon GO, and if you level up an account high enough and you will be able to flip it for a decent sum of cash.

The augmented reality game is expected to launch “soon, if not by the end of July”, Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke told Forbes.

Hackers who were responsible for the Pokemon Go crash over this last weekend have now threatened that they will have a bigger attack against the app in about two weeks.

Despite the issues, there are some fixes that the frustrated players can try to fix the Pokemon Go app when it is now working. Users have had no luck playing the mega-hit game.

According to analysis provided to the Wall Street Journal, the Pokemon Go app only consumes about 5 to 10 megabytes of data per hour, depending on the type of gameplay you are engaged in. So many people have been engrossed in the game that the Google searches for “Pokemon Go” have surpassed the searches for “porn”. An official UAE release date is yet to be announced – “later this year” is the most specific it gets – but many expatriate residents have already downloaded the game from the app stores in their home countries. It shot to the top of the download charts within 24 hours, becoming the most popular mobile game in USA history in a week, with more than 20 million daily active users.

There’s an argument that we should have all seen this coming..
