NY state warned people about the dangers of playing Pokemon Go while driving.

Niantic Labs, the Pokemon GO developer has temporarily suspended the global rollout of the game owing to the peak traffic on its game servers that are unable to cope up with the rising user-demand for the new augmented-reality game. He expressed concern that Pokemon GO’s privacy policy stipulates that users, children among them, are consenting to have their information shared with The Pokemon Company and “third party service providers”.
“Google has verified that no other information has been received or accessed by Pokémon Go or Niantic”, the statement said.
I know one of the biggest problems I had, especially when I went somewhere really busy and populated, the game would freeze up and crash and I couldn’t see Pokemon where the app said there should be Pokemon. “From a user’s general profile information to their precise location data and device identifiers, Niantic has access to a significant amount of information, unless users – many of whom are children – opt-out of this collection”.
Nintendo’s stock surge began on Thursday after the launch of its first smartphone game from the Pokemon franchise, which invites users to hunt for the popular fantastical creatures in real-world locations using their phone camera.
“Mobile apps are notorious for requesting excessive permissions-something that users should scrutinize whenever installing a new app”, said Javvad Malik, security advocate at AlienVault, via email.
This allows them to access users’ personal details, from email to search history.
“I just wanted to be able to stop quickly if there were any Pokemons nearby to catch”, he admitted.
