The other two apps that were found were Guide & Cheats for Pokemon GO and Install Pokemongo, both of which promised users the moon, only to deliver nothing but attempts to scam users into subscriptions, mainly via scareware.
First and foremost, ESET discovered a fake lockscreen app on Google Play, named Pokemon GO Ultimate. I have seen reports in the news where people have gotten injured while playing Pokemon Go. Bypassing the Play Store and installing the app manually on Android can be easily done without tweaking any settings or the operating system.

The game not only has a very low barrier to entry – it’s free and the primary mechanic is perambulation – but it encourages and rewards constant engagement whether you’re at home, walking to the shops, at work or school or on your commute. One of them even goes as far as circumventing a user’s lock screen security.
All three of the malicious apps mentioned were removed from the Google Play store after being reported by ESET.

Since being launched last week, Nintendo’s augmented-reality game Pokemon Go has reached remarkable popularity, including in Indonesia. Users are advised to stay away from any app that does not come from an official source.
