How would you know if your APK was compromised?

The game has sparked warnings about safety, amid reports of injuries, trespassing, and the discovery of a dead body.

The game itself was created by Niantic, spun off from Google past year, and Pokemon Company.

In a unusual development, Pokefans have allegedly filed a petition asking Niantic Labs to make Pokemon GO compatible with Intel Atom chips as the chipset maker has decidedly started phasing out its investment from the mobile market.

Thegame allows players to hunt for Pokemon in the real world and was first rolled out in Australia and New Zealand before its U.S. release.

That includes access to email, according to Google.

Niantic was forced to admit its mistakes on Monday after computer security experts realized that the video game gets a rare level of access to your Google account. In St. Louis, four men used the app to lure players to places where they could rob them. But Reeve later clarified that the app is only accessing this information on the iPhones.

The way that the Pokémon Go app was originally structured made it possible for its creators to access, view and change nearly every piece of information in its users’ Google accounts.

“If nothing else, Pokémon GO has shown that there are “dormant” Nintendo fans eager to trial its content for smartphones”, Deutsche Bank analysts said in a note.

“Google has verified that no other information has been received or accessed by Pokémon Go or Niantic”.

Got all that? Good, because those Pokestops and Pokemon are everywhere.

There are a few ways to make sure that you didn’t accidentally download a hacked version of the game. In fact, as Gizmodo points out, a surprising number of pokestops in the USA are located at abortion memorials.

Since the game was released last Thursday, it has been downloaded on Android and Apple devices more than 5 million times. Developed by Nintendo in collaboration with Niantic Labs, this augmented reality (AR) game requires a user to move around in the real world to catch Pokémons, which are an overlay over the real surroundings. It will be very interesting to see where it goes from here and how big this craze becomes.
