Pokemon Go debuts in Japan

The third question asked whether Pokemon trainers got a warning about how much data they were about to use when firing up the app. The fourth question asked if Niantic had something in place to make things right for users who do get hit with big overages from playing the game.

Sixteen-year-old high school student Mamiko Amaha was immersed in Pokemon Go with a group of girlfriends in Tokyo’s historic Asakusa district in search of Pokemon characters, as crowds of tourists strolled around.

Pokemon GO has caused all sorts of controversy, from the odd instance of trespassing all the way to player loss of life.

Of course, if you don’t play Pokemon Go, you might not appreciate the crowds that could take over McDonald’s restaurants in the region.

For the time being though, this new feature is only limited to the 3000 McDonalds located within Japan and won’t be coming to other countries like the United Kingdom for the time being.

But Nintendo’s earnings windfall from “Pokemon Go” may not live up to market expectations.

It has such a devoted following that Hanke spent a week in Japan earlier this month to attend a live “Ingress” event in Tokyo – just as the rest of his team was struggling to keep up with the intense demand for “Pokemon Go”. Nintendo owns a third of Pokemon Co while both companies have undisclosed stakes in Niantic.

Not only had it failed to recreate the success of its groundbreaking Wii game system, Nintendo had missed nearly every opportunity to jump on new gaming trends.

This would be the third major outage for the game in under a week and fans are beginning to lose patience with the addictive free-to-play mobile game.

“Pokemon Go” offered a potential way out of its hole. Children congregated at a Pokemon store and at McDonald’s Holdings Co. Just hours after the game’s release Friday, people were seen engrossed looking at their cellphones and searching for virtual Pokemon creatures on the streets of Tokyo despite the rainy weather there.
