Pokemon Go Desperation: Hack of Game Creator’s Account Supported in Brazil

Internet cracksmen say that they committed the crime in the name of Brazil as there was no official launch of Pokémon Go in the country.

Earlier this afternoon, OurMine successfully cracked through the password security of Hanke’s Twitter account.

The latest victim in a long line of high-profile twitter attacks is the CEO of Pokemon Go developer Niantic, John Hanke.

OurMine has repeatedly insisted that its intentions are entirely wholesome and that it is only looking to bring attention to the state of security by targeting social media accounts of prominent tech CEOs.

“His password was too easy “nopass” #OurMine!?” a tweet read.

Interestingly when Pokémon GO was launched, privacy issues were raised because the game was getting full Google account access while logging in. The Quora links included in the tweets have been removed. This suggests either Hanke isn’t aware of the hack or he hasn’t gained full control of his account yet. The company has not commented on the matter yet.

Last month, the hacker team claimed to be behind outages on the Pokémon Go network, although the claim is not verified yet.

However, one must not forget that OurMine is quite good at taking over people’s Twitter accounts.

OurMine has also claimed credit for compromising Twitter chief executive officer (CEO) Jack Dorsey’s, Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg’s and Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s social media accounts. Other targets include WikiLeaks’ main website, technology website TechCrunch and HSBC’s servers.

The hackers posted the #OurMine hashtag within tweets on Hanke's account
