‘Pokemon Go’ finds its way onto the campaign trail

As of yesterday, it has surpassed the 20 million peak DAU of smash hit Candy Crush, making Pokemon GO just about the biggest game in United States mobile gaming history. Another worthy opponent, Draw Something, was only able to reach 16 million users.

The SurveyMonkey data also posits that, if current growth rates continue (on Android), Pokemon Go is poised to pass Snapchat “within a couple of days”. Roughly seven in ten people who download the game play it again the next day.

The Trump campaign released a video with its own, edited version of the app titled “Crooked Hillary NO” that shows Hillary Clinton with a description as if she were a Pokemon character, labeled as “Crooked Hillary” that is “often found lying to the American people, rigging the system, and sharing TOP SECRET emails”. Pokemon GO is undoubtedly the biggest game of 2016. It only trails Google Maps (about 14 million) and Snapchat (almost 15 million). Nintendo has a stake price on profits earned by the game, explaining why its share price increased soon after the release of the game. Pokemon Go averages 33 minutes.

It’s worth noting that at one point Candy Crush Saga has 93m daily active users, but that was across all countries.
