Pokemon enthusiasts in Japan can now easily play Pokemon Go on their Android and iOS phones as the game has officially been launched in the region.
Nintendo shares took a steep dive Monday after the company warned that the global Pokemon Go phenomenon would not translate into an immediate jump in profits.
The suspense lasted for days, as worldwide media reports about a timeline for the Japan rollout kept changing, and Nintendo, Pokemon Co and the game’s US-based developer, Niantic Inc, all declined to comment. The way the people in this country with the game, will be the actual yardstick to measure the worth of the game on the Internet. For 49% of African-American respondents and 40% of Latino respondents, “Pokemon Go” is their first Pokemon game.
This is the first partnership developer Niantic has made with its augmented reality game and the success, or lack thereof, will give us an indication of what we can expect in the future.
Authorities suggest taking an extra charger or battery pack if you want to play for long periods of time. Nintendo still owns the trademark to all the characters and retains a 32 percent stake in Pokemon Co. Its goal, the company said, was to hire the world’s best Pokemon Master because it valued technically savvy risk takers who can “navigate through tall grass to capture wild creatures”.
Hopefully, the addition of yet another country on Niantic’s already-strained servers won’t render the game unplayable again. As a result, the Japanese government has released a few safety guidelines which potential gamers should follow.
While the game did launch earlier than anticipated TechCrunch said that it wasn’t without one final delay. While it is expected to see upside from Pokemon GO it will also have to contend with a strong yen which eats into the value of earnings garnered overseas.
McDonald’s Japan shares rose about 3% following the announcement.

Niantic’s CEO John Hanke says the studio wanted to come up with a game that require gamers to step outside the comfort of their homes and get some much-needed exercise, aside from discovering exciting new places and having fun, TechTimes reported.
