Pokemon GO gets an update, brings the best of augmented reality

Statistics released in the United States on Wednesday claimed Pokemon Go had already surpassed the number of daily users of Candy Crush Saga, the hugely popular puzzle game from UK developer King.

The augmented reality game is now available as a free download from the App Store and Google Play. The idea that has been playing in the minds of most avid gamers have crossed that of global product marketing lead for Pokemon Go and Ingress at Niantic Labs, Archit Bhargava’s as well. After an agonizing wait, Pokemon GO has finally started rolling out in Europe.

“Pokemon Go”, the newly released and hugely popular smartphone game from mobile app developer Niantic, is generating controversy that goes beyond the usual concerns about poorly spent time.

The appearance of Pokemon – seen via augmented reality on the phone screen – in surprise places had led to one children’s charity calling on the game’s makers, Nintendo and Niantic, to delay its launch in the UK. If you’re running into this issue, try signing out of the game and logging back in.

Demand for the game has proven so huge it crashed servers responsible for the app, causing a delay to release rollout.

Pokemon Go is now the hottest app in the United States, topping both Google Play and Apple App Store’s Top Grossing charts. But the game is expected to pass Snapchat on Android in a few days, and it could surpass Google Maps itself as the largest user of Alphabet’s mapping data. Dogecoin founder Jackson Palmer debugged the network traffic and found that the app no longer sends an HTTP request when you log in with a Pokemon Trainer Club account.
