Everyone’s favorite power-hungry app Pokemon Go helped sales of auxiliary battery packs skyrocket.
The report was published by NPD Group, an analytics company. The huge popularity Pokemon GO has drove to a high demand for devices that can charge your phone anywhere, anytime.
“According to The NPD Group’s Weekly Retail Tracking Service, unit sales of portable power packs created to charge mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, have grown 101 percent during the two week period between July 10 and July 23 compared to the year prior”.
Players of the popular AR mobile game have opted to upgrade the battery life of their mobile devices by way of purchasing battery packs to fuel their binge gaming, NPD Group reported.
This application is using most the smartphone capabilities, including location features, motion sensors and the camera. Due to the popular game’s power consumption, players are not just required to invest more in battery packs, they should also expect a shorter lifespan on their batteries as well. This is the only way they can accomplish the game’s tasks such as catching, training or fighting gym battles.
“As a way to compensate for the extra battery usage, consumers are buying portable power packs so they can continue to play, uninterrupted”, NPD’s Ben Arnold said in a statement.
Niantic Labs have acknowledged the apparent negative feedback following its removal of the battery-saving mode among iOS users, as the game developers cite that it has received feedback that the particular feature causes the game to be riddled with bug, and have chosen to drop the feature on its latest update. Gamers will come to them if they want to enjoy cathing Pokemon for a long time. This thing can be possible depending on what smartphone you are using.
