Pokemon Go Popularity Surges In First Week

Thanks in part to the enormous popularity of the Pokemon franchise – a Japanese entertainment brand that became a household name in the ’90s – analysts say “Pokemon Go” may push augmented reality out of virtual reality’s shadow.
As of now, “Pokemon Go” is only officially allowed in three countries namely, New Zealand, Australia and the United States.
Using your phone’s Global Positioning System functionality and camera, players will be able to catch Pokemon in real-world locations. They use the phones augmented reality to see and capture them.
Regarding China, he said it is technically possible to launch the game there, but noted that there are regulations that have to be considered.
Despite “Pokemon GO” being able to raise Nintendo’s market cap by at least $7 billion in the weekend, it seems that the gaming giant’s app is not earning as much as Apple is from its App Store cut. On an average, iOS user spent 33 minutes on Pokémon GO as compared to Facebook which ranked second with 22 minutes being spent on it.
Nintendo – which does not charge users to download the app – makes money by charging users a small amount of money for widgets that speed up the game or otherwise make it more interesting.

It turns out the pause on the worldwide rollout would not be that long, as Pokemon GO went live in Germany exactly one week after its initial launch in Australia and New Zealand. The free-to-play game is now available to download on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. The game has even helped to uncover a dead body.
