Shares in Nintendo jumped 14% on Tuesday as the soaring popularity of its Pokemon Go smartphone app showed no sign of abating. And the game’s maps are dotted with “PokeStops”, where you cannot only grab Pokeballs and snacks for your creatures, but you can also learn a little about local landmarks.
Players catch monster characters or pit one monster against another in the GPS-based, augmented-reality game.
The nonchalant explanation given by them regarding their attack on “Pokemon Go” sounds eerily familiar to the motto followed by ISIS nowadays!
Nintendo reportedly surpasses sales of Sony because of Pokemon Go.
Pokemon Go has been a huge asset for local businesses since it launched.
“Pokemon Go” has a website – pokemongo.nianticlabs.com – where one can request to have a location removed from the game because it’s too unsafe or it’s private property.
It’s not just about what’s happening right now, but what’s possible with Nintendo’s other IP, especially if AR gaming has legs in the mobile world.
Pokemon Company, which created the game along with Nintendo and Google-spinoff Niantic, could not immediately be reached for comment.
With 21 million daily active users, Pokemon Go is now the most popular U.S. mobile game in history, beating Candy Crush.
The fund manager said the big gains were justifiable considering the likely boost to Nintendo’s bottom line.
“It’s been wonderful to be able to combine our philosophy for these kinds of games with the powerful affinity that people have for Pokemon”, Niantic CEO John Hanke told Reuters.
Investors and analysts are betting the success of game, available officially in 35 countries and played in many more, will be transformational for Nintendo.
With Japan being the first Asian country to have the game, it is expected that other Asian countries will follow.

“Over the last decade they never compromised on the software side”. However, TechCrunch – the source of that piece of news – is now claiming that the launch has been postponed amid fears that the leaked info would cause overwhelming demand and impact server performance.
