Pokemon Go’s new tracking system actually works – here’s how

According to the impressions of some of users who have access to this new tracking feature, the Pokemon that can be discovered in this way can be located fairly close to the Poke Stop.

“Lizard No.3 or Lizard No.4; it doesn’t get you that excited”.

The newest update to Pokemon GO also does things like warn a user that they shouldn’t be driving and playing. “So I imagine any pokemon you’re now tracking will be inside that pulse”.

In order to get rid from those 3 step bugs and third-party tracking apps popularity, Niantic Labs has made a decision to provide the tracking feature to its user in their own app with some modification, and called it – Sightings. It’s a fairly simple concept on paper, but Pokemon GO has become a reality partly thanks to its spiritual predecessor “Ingress”. Let’s hope it’s the latter, as these cheaters are really ruining the “Pokemon Go” experience for everyone-and it’s impossible for Niantic to really not be aware, if they were able to detect third-party apps and Global Positioning System cheaters.

Another new feature in the latest patch prevents you from playing the game when going above a certain speed. The update should be like so go ahead and download it if you haven’t already. That tool will replace the “Nearby” one, which was recently removed from the game – and, alongside Niantic’s decision to cut off third-party Pokemon-finding apps, means that there’s no way left to find Pokemon beyond walking around and hoping to stumble into them. We’ve tested it out to find out that it has been renamed to “Sightings” and some cool new grass visuals were added to the feature, although we haven’t exactly tested out how it works yet. It never functioned as intended thanks to what gamers dubbed the “three-step glitch”, causing all the Pokemon to appear as if they were an equal distance from the player. As Kotaku reports, Nearby now shows you Pokemon that are in the vicinity of a Pokestop in your area.

The battery saver mode helped a little, but it was buggy on iPhone, and Niantic took it away. While being able to change our username is a welcomed addition, we would have much rather have been given the opportunity for a 1-time team color change.
