“You can’t catch f**king Pokemon in this f**king piece of s**t country”, he wrote over the weekend.

The statement clearly offended one Facebook user who promptly took Mr Truyen to task.

The woman told Mr Truyen he should leave Singapore, saying she had never met another Australian who would “bash another country like that”.

Sonny Truyen labelled his recently adopted country a “f**king piece of s**t because it was lagging behind Australia, New Zealand and the USA in the release of the popular Pokemon Go app”.

Sonny Truyen’s profanity-laden rant on Facebook suggested Singapore was undesirable place to live due to the unavailability of the smartphone game.

Singapore property portal 99.co has fired an employee for making disparaging remarks about Singapore on Facebook.

A screenshot of the exchange was shared by a user on a local forum called Hardwarezone. The statement, written by CEO Darius Chueng on 99.co’s blog page, said: “Sonny, an SEO specialist, had only started consulting for us for a week before the incident happened”.

“We are a proud Singaporean company and we do not condone such language or behavior, we have terminated his engagement with us immediately, as soon as the incident came to our attention”.

“I apologise on behalf of 99.co, we pride ourselves to be a principled company that celebrates values like diversity and equality”, said Cheung. “We take responsibility for the public behaviour of any employee or consultant affiliated with us as a reflection of the company”.

The company that he had just started working with was also hit with negative feedback, asking why would they hire someone like him, to which they have since issued an official apology and also stated that they have terminated his employment with them.

Mr Truyen admitted his comments were a lapse in judgement, when contacted by Mashable for comment. It was very wrong of me to rage like that.

Prior to those two jobs, Truyen had also worked with eBay, First Rate and iCar Asia Limited with experience in Australia and the United Kingdom, and described himself as a “battle tested digital marketer with 10 years’ experience directing marketing & technology teams at global arena”.

“However in my defense, I was racially vilified for not being a “white” Australian”.

Truyen’s Facebook account appears to have been deactivated since the post. However, he said he was disappointed to see the lengths people went to attack him without giving him the chance to make amends.
