Pokemon Go taking the world by storm

I think I’d rather a different kind of adventure game to get me moving… or I’d be happy just listening to music and getting some exercise, but it is kind of fun… except I can see my pokeballs running out and I’m cheap so I’ll be done with the game if I it prompts me to do any in app purchases.

The initial Pokedex includes Pokemon from the Kanto region, a fictitious territory created for the Pokemon franchise in “Pokemon Red” and “Pokemon Green”, and includes 90s kids’ favorite startup Pokemon, Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur (and Pikachu, of course). First, buy items Lure Modules in the game’s shop. Just tap a Pokemon that you want to get rid of in the Pokemon screen and hit “Transfer” option at the bottom of the screen.

Will you be using the program? Even though I wasn’t wandering around my own neighborhood, striking up conversations with other players at local Pokestops (real-world landmarks that, once you are close enough, provide the materials you need to play), the experience of playing the game was the same, and soon I was talking with locals swapping tips on how to play the game and where the best places to capture new Pokemon were. After all, this game finally gets gamers walking outside instead of sitting inside and mashing a controller with their fingers in front of a TV in a dark room.

Which brings me to the point: It’s only fun until someone gets hurt.

Most people have discovered the game through the internet or the zestful excitement of friends. Niantic is clearly trying to use crowdsourcing to make the game safer for everyone involved.

For example, five players can leave Pokemon at a level five gym.

After you have stocked up you’ll probably notice bigger landmarks, which have Pokemon on the top of them; these are gyms. The application allows Pokemon Go trainers to add locations on the map where rare Pokemon are being sighted.

After a few weeks of playing, the answer is a somewhat qualified “yes”. Smokehouse Live and the Village at Leesburg are hosting a “Pokemon GO Walk at the Village” on July 21 from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m. Apparently, I’m not alone. The goal of Pokemon Go is to “catch ’em all”. One motorist, Steven Cary (28), who says he never normally uses his phone while driving, crashed his brother’s auto in Auburn, New York, while momentarily glancing at his screen to see if a Lapras has appeared. They were said to have sustained injuries, though it’s not clear how bad they were. The city of Encinitas has since issued an alert, reminding players to “stay clear of all bluffs, overhangs and cliffs”.

It’s addictive, which is great for New Zealander Tom Currie, who gave up his job to become a full-time Pokemon hunter (you read that right, reader), but it’s not conducive to doing a full day’s work.

With the release of “Pokemon GO” in the United States July 6 for Android and IOS systems, players can use their phones to “capture” wild Pokemon in augmented reality (viewing the environment around you through your phone’s camera and being able to see 3D Pokemon), evolve them and use them to battle in gyms.

Mark McFadden, 22, of North Swindon, said: “I’ve had the game for a few days now and I’m pretty addicted”.

A low rating means that a particular Pokemon can’t be found in that particular location.
