‘Pokemon Go’ Tracking: ‘Sightings’ Replaces Old ‘Nearby’ Tracker

With signs warning Pokemon GO players to stay away proving unsuccessful, museum officials in Japan asked Pokemon GO developer Niantic to update the game as to ensure that Pokemon characters, lures and Pokestops wouldn’t show up on the premises.

Another version of the new tracker is called Nearby, like the old tracker. With so much userbase and daily activity, Niantic Labs has to keep the gamers happy and more active by providing useful tools and of course, new Pokemons.

But here’s a video demonstrating the usage of the new tracker.

The YouTube channel Trainer Tips has come up with a sure shot method of successfully tracking Pokemon with the newly improved tracker.

Instead of just showing Pokemon with little footprints next to them, the new Nearby section will show a photograph of where exactly the Pokemon is hiding.

Two types of trackers are being tested and you may see both, one, or none at all.

So, if the pokemon you are walking towards is no longer in a certain range, it will immediately disappear from your tracker menu.

Currently in beta, the new “nearby” system separates Pokemon appearances by “sightings” – a generalized indicator that a given species is in the area – and “nearby”, which now indicates the specific Pokestop where the Pokemon can be found.

But if you think this augmented reality is the best thing since sliced bread, then you might want to sit down for this. Sorry, Android users, no such battery saver exists for Pokemon GO in the universe of the little green bot. It was removed in the last update for unknown reasons, but its back now. PokeVision was the first-of-its-kind map that offered to show where certain pokemon would spawn and despawn. Below is what you do next. You have to get near the Pokemon and throw the ball at it to capture it. Check out the image below for a closer look at how this works.

Keiron O’Meara, aged 29, a 3D design and game engineer development student, spent up to 15 hours a day hunting Pokemon, starting his quest on July 8 and finishing at 8pm on July 29. If you see a Pokemon on your screen it means it is actually there!
