Polar bear unfazed after encounter with migrants in Calais

Dashcam footage captured the moment a group of men opened the back of the truck in Calais and came face to face with Nissan, a 22-month-old bear which was en route from a Moscow Zoo to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England.

Only one of the hitchhikers balked upon seeing his unexpected travel companion. The migrants were inside the truck for 10 minutes before French police removed them.

A witness told The Sun: ‘It only took 17 seconds before four vaulted the barrier and prised open the truck’s back doors. More than perhaps anywhere else on Europe’s migrant trail, the mood here is increasingly defiant, with asylum seekers becoming ever bolder in their attempts to challenge security forces head-on and break through the tightening cordon that prevents them from reaching Britain.

“It’s not probably what they were expecting when they opened the back of the lorry”.

The human being within the auto behind the truck was filming the truck’s journey in an effort to document the polar bear’s trip from Moscow, Russia, to Yorkshire, England, & inadvertently got the would-be stowaways on camera.

“I think a lot of people in Calais would have been in trouble if he hadn’t been in his crate”.

Nissan has now settled in well at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, living with two other polar bears named Victor and Pixel.

On Wednesday, Nissan joined other bears at the zoo and is “absolutely fine”, according to the spokesman of the United Kingdom park, Sky News reported. He has been moved to the United Kingdom as part of the European breeding programme. The reserve is purpose-built and is divided into four sections which include landscaped hills, valleys, and lakes containing water up to eight meters deep. “I’m sure visitors will fall in love with him once he settles in and is ready to be out in the reserves and be seen by visitors”.
