The protesters were initially peaceful as they moved through Westlake, calling for police accountability and chanting “black lives matter, not Black Friday”.

Demonstrators camped outside a Minneapolis police station since Clark’s shooting have said the shooting of the protesters a block away left them undeterred. Some who claim they saw the shooting say Clark was handcuffed, which police dispute.

Young said she supports the Black Lives Matters protesters’ cause. In Chicago, where a white police officer was charged this week with murder for allegedly shooting a black teenager, Laquan McDonald, 16 times, an estimated crowd of 2,000 blocked access to stores in the city’s ritzy “Magnificent Mile” shopping district. Four protesters were arrested, and one officer suffered a dislocated shoulder in a scuffle and was taken to the hospital. Police said the men knew each other. There were no immediate reports of any altercations or arrests in connection with the protest.

“After what happened in Chicago, there have been a response around the country since these shootings have happened, especially the shooting in Minneapolis against the protestors who were occupying”, said chief organizer Brian Taylor. The state BCA is determining whether the two officers – Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze – violated state laws.

“The only way that you can end this is to arrest, indict, fire and jail those who carry this out”, Black Lives Matters Cincinnati’s Brian Taylor told WCPO.

The protest began at 1 p.m. November 27 at Holladay Park new Northeast 11th Avenue.
