Terminals were starting to reopen on Monday morning but passengers who fled will be rescreened through security, airport police said.

“Word spread quickly through the terminals by word-of-mouth, social media, and additional calls were made to Airport Police about an active shooter in other terminals, with some reporting having heard gunshots”. Many other evacuees are standing on the airport tarmac, and abandoned bags littered some sidewalks.

Flights at LA International Airport are returning to normal after earlier, unconfirmed reports of an active shooter.

“People started dropping bags and running out of the terminal…”

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said on its website that air traffic to LAX was being delayed at the point of departure.

Police evacuated the terminals and conducted a sweep with explosive-detection K-9 search units. According to a report by Times Now, one person has been detained by the police. All precautions being taken to ensure safety of public. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

She said she had also left the terminal and run through a parking area to her vehicle and left the airport.

Another video showed the chaos as people ran screaming from the terminal as police cars approached the airport with sirens blaring. Traffic was at a standstill not only on the loop road at LAX but also on Century and Sepulveda boulevards, the main arteries into the airport.
