Police find no one wounded in NC mall shooting

A report of gunshots fired inside the mall came in to police at about 2:30 p.m., but police hours later said they still could not confirm that shots were fired.

Gunshots were fired inside a crowded mall in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday afternoon and there were no immediate reports of injuries, police said.

Witness Mark Rush told WTVD that he was walking out of a cell phone accessory store when he heard “about five or six” shots. “People started running”, said Richardson, who added he didn’t hear what the men were arguing about.

As of 3:20 p.m., police said no one was being allowed in or out of the mall. Rice reported that Raleigh police officers were evacuating stores in the food court area. In the Twitter clip, crowds of people, including several children, are seen running out of the mall and screaming. No suspects are to reported to have been arrested. Other eyewitnesses said they had to run out of the mall.

Witnesses say they hid in stores until police led them out.

A person inside the mall says he saw a shooting unfold after an argument in the food court and that he heard as many as four shots. According to a post on the mall’s website, people can pick up items starting Sunday at noon in the Community Room beside HWY 55 near the food court.

Police have said that no suspects are in custody, nor have they found a gunshot victim yet.

Later, scores of people gathered outside the mall, appearing to wait for news of what happened or to find loved ones who had sheltered inside. She left with chemicals still in her hair and a towel around her neck.
