Police Hunt Man After County Durham Stabbing
A man has been taken to hospital after what police described as a “serious assault”.

A man has died after a stabbing in a village which has now been placed on lockdown.
The incident happened in Kelloe, County Durham, around 2pm on Wednesday when police were called to Front Street.
Pictures from the scene showed a street had been cordoned off in the former pit village.
Armed police are now swarming the village, searching gardens and storming homes in an attempt to find the suspect.
It is thought to have happened close to a hairdressers and the Kelloe Working Men’s Club in broad daylight.
Posting to Twitter, the force said: “Dealing with a report of a serious assault in Front Street, Kelloe”.
One witness, who did not want to be named, said: “About 1.45pm I saw lots of police cars and an ambulance heading to the village”.
They have issued an urgent appeal for information about the attack, as they attempt to track down a man who they believe could be responsible.
The victim was taken to James Cook Memorial Hospital in Middlesbrough where he died.
‘We sent a rapid response paramedic, alongside a hazardous area response team and the Great North Air Ambulance’.

Police remain in the Kelloe area as they tryto trace a man believed to have been involved in the incident.
