Police hunt suspects in mass shooting in New Orleans park

There were two groups of people gathered at the event, those who attended the parade and those who were participating in the video. He says that less than 10 minutes later, an acquaintance he knows only as Peanut hustled past, warning him about a possible gunfight. He conceded, however, that many in the city don’t feel safe. No one was killed in the Sunday evening shooting that happened as hundreds of people had gathered at a local park.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry identified the two men charged with murder as Larry Jo Taylor Jr., 18, and Jalen E. Watson, 21, both of Indianapolis, who face murder, burglary, theft and several other charges.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is adamant about putting those involved behind bars. Landrieu said the shooting is not something that can be tolerated in the city.

Damien Gaines said he, his two sons, ages 10 and 13, and their 10-year-old cousin had just come home from an athletic awards ceremony. They also planned a community meeting for last night in the park to discuss the shooting.

Three witnesses told the newspaper they saw a man with a silver-coloured machine gun, and also heard more gunshots coming from within the crowd as he ran away.

Brittany Adamson says that about a half-hour or so before the gunfire started at a New Orleans playground, the crowd was much smaller than the one described by police.

NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said did not say if any suspects had been developed but had some clues as to the nature of the violence.

New Orleans shootout erupted during an impromptu music video recording at the city park. The motivation for the shooting is not known at this time and a police manhunt is underway for the perpetrators of the crime.

“We’re appealing to anyone with a conscience”, he said, in asking for information about the Bunny Friend Park shooting. But Landrieu has said that is the result of hard choices made after he inherited an $80 million budget deficit in 2010.
