Police ID Christina Grimmie’s killer

After The Voice, Grimmie was briefly signed to Island Records, and was reportedly working on a new EP at the time of her death.

Grimmie’s brother, Marcus, immediately tackled Loibl who then shot and killed himself during the struggle, police said.

Police said in a news release that the 22-year-old singer had performed with the band Before You Exit at The Plaza Live in Orlando. “She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds”. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but died of her injuries.

The singer got her big break appearing on Season 6 of NBC’s The Voice, where she placed third for the season.

Gomez’s stepfather, Brian Teefey, discovered Grimmie on YouTube when she was still in high school. Her videos on YouTube have garnered millions of views.

The police officer added: “Her brother is a hero for saving and stopping him from not hurting anyone else”. The support has been insane and I do feel a peace.
