Police ID suspect who grabbed officer’s weapon before being shot and killed
At about 9:15 p.m., the suspect walked up to a man and a woman who were sitting in their vehicle near 7th Street and Baseline Road and demanded their keys, said Sgt. Vince Lewis, a Phoenix police spokesman.

According to authorities, both the officer and the detective fired their weapons, striking the suspect.
Phoenix police say a man was fatally shot as he was fighting to get at an officer’s firearm.
The man ran about 50 yards before collapsing.
They say there are no indications at this time that the incident is related to the ongoing serial street shooter investigation in the Phoenix area.
Phoenix Fire pronounced him dead at the scene.
The officer was treated and released for a broken nose.
“At one point, the officer briefly staved off the attack and drew his weapon to hold Ceniceros at gunpoint until back up could arrive”, Lewis said in an update Saturday morning. A physical fight ensued between the suspect and the officer before a detective who was nearby responded.
Phoenix police are looking for a 19-year-old man suspected of shooting a 40-year-old woman he was romantically involved with.
