There were no serious injuries, Lovell said.
“One with a fractured leg, one with a fractured wrist, and one with a fractured collar bone”, Snyder said. “Even though my daughter and her best friend didn’t get physically hurt, it frightened them beyond words”.
A county code enforcement inspector and a National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials inspector both checked out the ride Sunday.
Some of the parents of the riders remain very upset after fair leaders initially downplayed and downgraded conditions.
“Today was supposed to be a fun day”.
Kira Pesh, who was on the ride with her sister, echoed Anna. I surprised them and told them we are going to the fair.
“We’re not used to seeing that feature, and I don’t know if because he was in emergency mode he was able to do that”, he said.
She told WHBQ she was at the top of the ride when it stopped and her safety harness released. But she described a chaotic scene as children were treated for their injuries.
“We’ve taken out the human error factor, the operator operating the ride at the time, competent operator, but unfortunately he made a mistake”, Jerry Smithson said.
As the Moonraker was moving, the safety belts were released. “We will not be attending between the workers being shocked to the unprofessionalism of yesterday’s actions speaks volumes”.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said 14 people were thrown from the ride.
The ride will stay closed until at Wednesday.
