Police investigating video of crash between courier cyclist and taxicab in Toronto
Officers responded to a struck cyclist in the area of Bay Street and Charles West on Thursday just before 5:50 p.m.

In the video footage, which is now spreading online, the cab looks like it hits the Favour Delivery person and knocks him to the sidewalk. Bystanders stop the taxi, and the cyclist gets up, seemingly unharmed. “That is assault”, the cyclist, a young man, is heard saying to a man standing beside the cab in the video. “For two blocks you’ve been on his ass”, says one onlooker to the taxi driver.
Moments later, other motorists and cyclists come to the rider’s aid to check he is ok.
Favour Delivery, the courier’s employer, for said they were “extremely concerned” by the incident. “The police have been informed and are now investigating the incident”, spokesperson Tina Heileman told the Star.
Heileman said the company is in close contact with the cyclist.
No charges have been laid.
Police are looking for witnesses who offered assistance immediately after the collision, specifically four males.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477). He wore a dark blue short-sleeved shirt, dark grey trousers and brown dress shoes and was also cycling north on Bay but stopped for the collision. Police said he was riding a bicycle northbound on Bay Street and had stopped for the collision. He was wearing a light blue shirt and glasses. The fourth is described as white, 30-40, medium build, short dark hair, clean-shaven, wearing a backpack with grey shoulder straps, light-blue-and-white striped button-down short-sleeved shirt, blue riding gloves, dark sunglasses, riding a bicycle and had stopped for the collision.
