Police issue warning about fraudulent IRS caller
The scam features individuals individual claiming to be from the IRS calling residents and demanding money, The Enterprise reports.

Hundreds of other Ohioans have reported receiving scam calls that falsely suggest they are in trouble with the IRS. They falsely impersonated IRS agents, Treasury Department authorities said, demanding money from their victims and telling them they would be arrested if they didn’t wire payments immediately.
IRS spokesman Luis Garcia says the scammers may be now targeting people who have a 910 area code.
If you are unsure about the information you receive over the phone, you should hang up and contact that agency directly via phone, website or mail.
Ask for credit card/debit card numbers over the phone.
Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card. Scammers also threaten to report potential victims to the police. He said the recorded message provides a number for the recipient to call. Responding to a scam call can result in even more calls because it lets con artists know that your phone number belongs to a real person. If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and asking for money and you don’t owe taxes, don’t give out any information. Phone numbers on Caller IDs can not be traced because of being contraband in the State Prison System.
