After the picture when viral, LA Fitness permanently revoked Mathers’ membership at all its fitness clubs.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has launched an official investigation into a Playboy model following reports of “illegal distribution” of an image of a naked woman inside an LA Fitness gym locker room.

Ms Mathers has been at the centre of online fury after she secretly took an image of the woman while naked in the dressing room of a Los Angeles gym.

A PLAYBOY model who posted a picture of an unsuspecting woman in a gym changing room on social media could face criminal charges. “It’s not just our rule, it’s common decency”.

She Knows reports Mathers is likely guilty of a misdemeanor crime, citing California law that it’s a misdemeanor to “secretly videotape, film, photograph, or record by electronic means, another, identifiable person who may be in a state of full or partial undress, for the objective of viewing the body of, or the undergarments worn by, that other person, without the consent or knowledge of that other person” in places where privacy can reasonably be expected.

The LAPD’s West division sexual assault section is investigating.

Under that law, Mathers could be charged in the state of California with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor that can include a fine of up to $1,000 or six months in jail.

Mathers’ halfhearted attempt at an apology makes the situation even more infuriating.

Mathers, who deleted her Twitter and Instagram accounts after the incident, said she was a new Snapchat user and that she incorrectly used the app. “I know that body-shaming is wrong”.

The backlash for the 2015 Playmate of the year was swift and fierce.

Dani Mathers needs to be held legally accountable for her actions. In an apology video (above), Mathers claimed the post was “accidental”, meant to be “a personal conversation with a girlfriend”, and put its appearance on her story-as opposed to a direct message to said friend-down to her newness to the social media platform.
