According to a representative with the International Union Police of Associations, the officer went to the Noodles & Company at 3105 Duke Street at 6:30 p.m. Monday. According to the station, the officer was waiting in line when the cook came out of the kitchens and walked up to the cashier saying something to the effect of, “You are going to have to take me off the line because I am not serving that”. The cashier and the cook then exchanged a few words and started laughing at the officer.

Police spokeswoman Crystal Nosal says it was never made clear why the officer was singled out, but said she was in full uniform at the time.

Police Chief Earl Cook went Tuesday to Noodles & Company to speak with management.

Noodles & Company said in a statement that they are “working with the appropriate authorities and local police association representatives to get to the bottom of, and resolve this matter as quickly as possible”. “The officer realized what was happening and rather than making an incident of it, the officer just left the business”.

The restaurant told NBC News4 that it was interviewing employees involved in the incident and doesn’t tolerate any form of discrimination.

The company is reaching out to the officer but has not spoken to her yet, according to the statement.

The Daily Caller News Foundation contacted the restaurant but an employee said they could not comment on the situation.
