“A Palestinian armed with a screwdriver approached a checkpoint near Hebron and attempted to stab security forces”, the Israeli military said in a statement.

Camera footage published subsequently by Israeli media showed Israeli settlers attacking the Palestinian perpetrators with sticks after they had already been shot.
A Palestinian stabbed two Israeli security guards in the West Bank on Thursday before being shot and killed, Israeli authorities said, as another Palestinian was shot dead in a separate suspected attack.
Quiet week The latest attack came after a relatively quiet week following more than three months of stabbings, vehicle rammings and attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers in Israel and the West Bank. A wave of violence in Israel and the Israeli-occupied West Bank which began nearly three months ago has shown no sign of dying down and has sparked concern of wider escalation a decade after the last Palestinian uprising subsided. One died at the scene and the second later in a hospital.
In the third shooting, Israeli troops killed a Palestinian youth who allegedly ran over a soldier with his vehicle in the Adam settlement, also known as Geva Binyamin, and left him injured.
The fourth Palestinian, who died in clashes with the Israeli military in the Qalandiya refugee camp in the West Bank, was hit in the head by live fire, according to Ahmad Bitawi, the director of Ramallah hospital. Samri had said earlier that one of the wounded may have been shot by police officers who were firing at the Palestinian assailants.
At least 133 Palestinians have been killed in the recent escalation of violence since the start of October.
Israel says the violence is a result of a Palestinian campaign of lies and incitement.
One of the victims died of stab wounds sustained during the attack, according to Israeli police.
Bezalel Smotrich, whose Jewish Home party is a powerful partner of Netanyahu’s conservative Likud, voiced suspicion about the leak of the wedding video, which Channel 10 said had originally been seized by state investigators.
The words “Revenge” and “Hello from the detainees of Zion” were daubed on the wall of a home next to the one attacked on Tuesday, witnesses said, an apparent reference to the suspects in the Duma arson case.

Israeli leaders have expressed outrage at the video.
