Police on standby as protesters gather at Charlotte stadium
I guarantee if you had one or two National Football League players walk down here, there wouldn’t be too many people outside the game [Sunday].

In Carolina, the Panthers righted the ship after a week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos by exploding on the 49’ers for 46 points.
The next three nights of protests were free of property damage and violence, with organizers stressing a message of peace at the end of the week. He has said he wants to draw attention to racial oppression and police brutality in the United States. An upgrade using Peterson makes a lot of sense, something that could improve the chances of the Panthers assuming they reach Super Bowl 51. Numerous protests have occurred in the shadow of Bank of America Stadium, the Panthers home field. Charlotteans have been protesting all week over Scott’s murder.
“We’re just out here to lighten the mood”, Banks said.
The only way that I think the Vikings can pull this game off, is if they can get positive rushing yards out of McKinnon and Asiata. “We’re just trying to do our part”.
The protesters, holding signs and led by a man on a bullhorn, were surrounded by at least two dozen police officers on bicycles on Sunday afternoon.
“It doesn’t negate justice, accountability and equity”, said Dani Cook, who said she was self-employed, in reference to her hugs.
“I’d much rather have him be aggressive and get a couple of those once in a while than play real soft and scared”, Zimmer said of the flags thrown on Waynes. There needs to be accountability.
A group of around 100 demonstrators gathered across the street from Bank of America Stadium to keep up the pressure in the aftermath of the death of Keith Lamont Scott.
The police said Scott exited his vehicle carrying a gun.
The protests have since continued but have been largely peaceful, including on Saturday after video of Scott’s shooting was released by police. Four shots are heard in quick succession, and he crumples to the ground mortally wounded.
The news comes after the game was declared an “extraordinary event” by Charlotte interim city manager Ron Kimble on Saturday night.
Griffen ended up with three of Minnesota’s eight sacks on Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.
The back of Newton’s shirt reads, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”.
Newton was referring to the 2013 fatal shooting of Jonathan Ferrell by Charlotte officer Randall Kerrick. Newton has been relatively neutral during the Black Lives Matter movement sweeping across the nation in recent months.
“We’re in a state of emergency. We can’t be hypocrites”.

Vikings cornerback Captain Munnerlyn, who played five seasons for the Panthers and still owns a home in Charlotte, said Thursday he’s a little nervous about coming home for the game.
