Police in MS say another 6 hostages have been removed from a boarding house on the south side of Jackson, the state’s capital city.

“All occupants have been taken out of the house; there were a total of 15 people inside that house at least 2 taken out of the attic”, said Police Chief Lee Vance.

Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents responded to the scene at around 6 a.m. and the situation continued on for over six hours. The other six were released by about 9 a.m., police said. A major street was blocked off and students were held inside two nearby schools for their safety. No injuries have been reported.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Police now say they are trying to figure out whether anyone was ever held hostage in a MS house where they’d earlier believed a man was holding more than a dozen people.

When officers arrived, someone answered the door at the home but slammed it when they saw the officers, Vance said. Vance said then that police would wait him out.

“Officers received a call that a subject was possibly being held against his will in the 2800 block of Greenview at 4:20”, said Commander Tyree Jones. He said an officer responded to the address and knocked on the front door.

Vance said an Federal Bureau of Investigation negotiation team was called in to assist, but there has been no direct communication with the man.
