Police report finding cocaine on Scott Weiland’s tour bus

His death was reported on the singer’s Facebook page early Friday.

His manager said Weiland died of cardiac arrest in his sleep and was found shortly before he was due to perform. “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died”.

Weiland and his band the Wildabouts are now on tour and were scheduled to perform in Nevada and California later this month. It did not give a reason.

He was later pronounced dead by local authorities.

The singer rose to fame as the front man of the Grammy Award-winning Stone Temple Pilots.

The group’s 2004 debut, “Contraband“, reached No. 1 on the Billboard album chart and included two gold-selling singles, “Slither” and “Fall to Pieces”.

Weiland was on tour with his solo outfit, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, when he passed away.

Police in the city of Bloomington said they found the “small quantity” of cocaine in the bedroom while executing a search warrant on the bus Friday following Weiland’s death.

Things got harder for the Stone Temple Pilots after they released their third album Tiny Music in 1996.

The Stone Temple Pilots broke up in 2003, reunited in 2008, and broke up for good in 2013. In 1995, he was arrested after deputies found him carrying crack and heroin.

The bass player has been charged with 5th degree felony drug possession.
