Police rescue abducted Nepali industrialist

Eyewitnesses said that the kidnappers used a Scorpio with an Indian registration number to kidnap Kedia.

Bihar police and Nepal police have launched a massive manhunt to recover abducted businessman Suresh Kedia, a member of Kedia Group of Industries. Kedia’s driver Shyam Sah Kanu was shot at and is struggling for life in a Kathmandu hospital.

Soon after the kidnapping Bihar Police formed a special team to trace him.

According to West Champaran SP Vinay Kumar, the team of police officers who arrested Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal from near Raxaul in August 2013 was assigned the task of rescuing Kedia. DIG Pashupati Upadhyaya of the Central Regional Police Office said the arrests were made after monitoring call details of Dube. At least 36 cases of kidnapping for ransom, extortion and murder were pending against him in the Champaran region.

Asked about the gang involved in the incident, Rana said gangs of both India and Nepal might be involved in the kidnapping.

Bihar Police had stepped in after the Nepal government approached the Indian government for help. Police sources said the industrialist was abducted by the members of a gang led by Bablu Dubey.
