According to reports, the initial 911 call was made by a neighbor who discovered the bodies on the Gordon property.

Former NASCAR racer Robby Gordon makes a statement to members of the media gathered outside his home in Orange, Calif., on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016.

Robby Gordon canceled a motivational speech he had planned for Thursday at Chapman Hills Elementary School in Orange.

The newspaper said police didn’t believe there was a suspect at large.

“With respect to him and in his honour, both my [off-road racing] event in Costa Mesa will go on and Ryan Hunter-Reay, who is Becky’s husband, will continue on at Sonoma [IndyCar Series] this weekend”.

The bodies of a man and woman were found inside a home in Orange on September 15, 2016.

Arriving officers found the bodies of a 68-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, Lopez said. Police have not released their identities or details about their relationship.

Gordon, 47, is a former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and owner.

Gordon says he will speak about the deaths again once authorities conclude their investigation.

Robby Gordon, who won fame racing in the IndyCar Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, now participates in off-road vehicle competitions, such as the Baja 500 and the Dakar Rally.

“The truth will come out, what went down here”, he said. Known as “Baja Bob”, Gordon’s father was an accomplished off-road racer. He drove the No. 31 for Richard Childress Racing from 2001-04, then had his own team, Robby Gordon Motorsports, for the rest of his career in the No. 7.

NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. was among those offering condolences, writing on his Twitter account he is praying for “the Gordon family during this hard time”.

“(Robert) gave me my first ride in an off-road buggy”, NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson told Fox Sports.

Johnson said Bob Gordon ran half that race as well as Frank Arciero. Gordon is one of only four drivers to compete in the Indy 500 and NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. He almost won the 1999 Indy 500 before running out of fuel in the closing laps. His wife, Sharon was the stepmother of the Nascar driver.
