Police say intruder tried to climb Buckingham Palace fence

The man, who was only identified as a 22-year-old from Croydon, was not able to gain access to the Queen’s mansion, officials said.

A man who climbed over a security fence at Buckingham Palace was arrested by police in the early hours of this morning.

In May, it was revealed that a man who scaled a wall at the palace is a convicted murderer.

Police say the man was unnarmed and no Taser was deployed by officers.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson has declined to comment.

Hennessy pleaded guilty to one count of trespassing and one count of criminal damage at a court in central London and was jailed for four months.

The suspect was unarmed and was in custody, London’s Metropolitan Police said. The breach is not believed to be terrorism-related.

A year ago two men got on to its roof as part of a protest over fathers’ rights while in 2013, a man scaled a fence and was arrested inside a room which was open to the public during the day.
