Police Say Razor Blade Found In Halloween Candy In Ohio

A group of children finished trick-or-treating and were splitting up candy when one of the children noticed something odd about a piece of their candy, according to Reynoldsburg Police Lt. Shane Mauger.

The child’s parent noticed something in the candy as the children were looking through what they got after returning home, he said.

WSYX in Columbus reported that kids were trading candy when one bit into a bite-sized candy far and found a small razor blade wedged inside the middle.

“This is the first time in 19 years that I’ve handled anything like this”, he said.

Reynoldsburg police are investigating what they say is a “single report” of a candy bar with a unsafe sharp object inside.

Police weren’t sure which home handed out the candy bar because the trick-or-treaters swapped candy, Mauger said. Look for sweets that are a different size or color from all the others.
