Police shoot autistic man’s caretaker as he lies in street
“Our officers responded to the scene with that threat in mind”. “We had a 911 call with that same information. However, I want to make it clear there was no gun recovered”.

Clint Bower, who runs the group home, told Local 10 News that Kinsey was shot three times in the leg and that the man he was caring for is non-verbal and has “relatively low function”.
A second video was released Wednesday, which showed Kinsey, after he was shot, laying handcuffed in the road, bleeding. “Rinaldo, sit down. Rinaldo, lay on your stomach”, Kinsey can be heard on the video telling his patient. He was rocking back and forth and staring intently at the truck.
The shooting comes amid national outrage over the fatal shootings of two black men earlier this month and heightened tensions following the recent killing of police officers in Dallas, Texas, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The incident illustrates the edgy mood of United States police and the nation in general after the police ambush in Dallas that left five officers dead and another similar incident Sunday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that killed three. The witness said the officer fired from more than 100 feet away with a rifle. He called it a “very sensitive matter” and promised a transparent investigation, but he refused to identify the officer or answer reporters’ questions.
Wilson is promising to follow up with state agencies on their investigations to ensure “justice was done”. “Investigators are gathering all the evidence related to this incident”.
‘Why did you shoot me?’
The shooting itself is not seen in the footage, although at least one of the three officers at the scene did fire, striking Kinsey in the leg.
Kinsey’s wife told WSVN, “I am just grateful that he is alive, and he is able to tell his story”. According to WSVN, Kinsey was left there for about 20 minutes until EMTs arrived. “I thought it was a mosquito bite”.
“I’m like, ‘Sir, why did you shoot me?'” Kinsey said he asked the officer.
According to North Miami police spokeswoman Natalie Buissereth, officers “attempted to negotiate” with the men. “At some point during the on-scene negotiation, one of the responding officers discharged his weapon”.
An officer has been placed under administrative leave.
The Miami Herald posted video of the encounter on their website.
“That’s a reckless act and I don’t understand any justification for it”, Napoleon said.
The autistic man tells him to “shut up” and does not comply. “Something’s not right with this picture”, she said.
Additionally, we shouldn’t forget that the shooting happened in North Miami.
“This is not typical of North Miami”, she said.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Kinsey said he was trying to calm his autistic patient.
