Police shoot man who attacked NYPD officers with cleaver

According to the Post, an officer was grazed by one of the bullets.

A police operation is in full swing after a man with a meat cleaver was spotted in the city’s Penn Station which operates the New jersey transit system and the subway.

NY police officers reportedly gunned down a man in Midtown Manhattan after he allegedly attacked an officer with a meat cleaver. Per NBC New York, the officers’ injuries are not considered life-threatening.

NYPD spokesman Peter Donald confirmed the shooting at Broadway and 32nd Street took place at around 5 p.m.

The officer was transported to Bellevue Hospital.

A large police presence was seen in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood following the incident. The suspect was hit multiple times.

He said police tried to get him to drop the cleaver but he refused and around six or seven shots were fired.

“He was running down the street waving it”, said an MTA worker, who wished not to be named.

Two years ago, a hatchet-wielding man ambushed a group of NYPD officers in Jamaica, Queens, gashing a rookie cop in the head with the 18-inch ax.

Inspection: The police also inspected suitcases found in the auto.
