Officials said RCMP were called to the fire on Tuesday, at about 1:20 p.m. – Mayerthorpe RCMP said the bridge fire is the fifth fire they had been called to in the last ten days.
Provincial fire Investigators, along with CN Rail authorities, are at the scene investigating what may have caused the fire in support of this RCMP-led investigation.
A massive fire that forced a school and trailer park in Mayerthorpe to evacuate Tuesday afternoon is being investigated as a possible arson.
He says it’s a concern given the dry conditions this spring.
The RCMP is waiting on those results to continue their investigation.
More than 30 firefighters helped douse the fire, which was believed to have started near the base of the bridge.
“When we got here, it was a relatively small fire”, he told CBC.
CN crews spent the day Wednesday clearing away the debris of the burned structure.
